Honest question....

Do we even want to bother supporting Windows 95, 98, NT and ME?

I know we obviouosly support 2000, XP and Vista when it comes out....

95 and 98 probably not. Not sure about ME though, does anyone use it? Smiley

I'd be willing to bet though that there are still quite a few NT machines out there.

Hey!!! I use Win98 SE! (Even on my AMD Sempron 2200+ with 512MB RAM)

To be honest, CE was about the only application I kept with Win98 SE for - that, and PowerDVD. Everything else I run can very happily under Linux (be it natively, through WINE/Cedega or various emulators for all my old non-PC games)

And, if you're supporting WinME anyway, Win98 support is almost trivial to add.

Exactly...this is the reason I wanted to know, how many really need to be tested.
I have 98 still, I can load a Virtual Box for it for testing when the time comes...

NT, I am not even sure I have a copy of NT anythmore, will have to dig.

I know I dont have a copy of this, I hated ME with a passion.  I threw out the cd I did have...

If we manage to keep EE as standalone, with minimal registry entries and such in Windows, I don't think it would be significantly more difficult to maintain support for NT/ME/98.

I am on the Microsoft Beta group.  I should be getting a copy of Vista as well.  So I can try to test a little with that as well.
