Hi,

Steps to reproduce the issue:
1. Open a text file
1. Ctl+F and Find dialog box will open
2. Put any characters in FIND WHAT field of a word that exists in the file
3. In "Direction" section, select "Up"
4. Click "Find Next" button, and the word will be found as expected
5. Close the dialog box
6. Press F3 function (which should operate same as Find Next button)
7. The Editor will search for the next word in the Down direction (not UP).

By the way, in Windows notepad, F3 looks up the word in the indicated direction.

Tested on: Crimson Editor SVN286 English

Ahmed,

I think this is by design. There are two shortcuts in Crimson editor related to this:

  • F3 - Find next
  • Shift + F3 - Find previous

This guarantees that when you hit F3 you will search down the file and if you hit Shift+F3 you will search up the file regardless of whatever you put in the Find Dialog. So it's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just how it was designed.

Also since I'm not a huge fan of Windows Notepad I tested Notepad++ and UltraEdit and they pretty much have this feature designed in the same way as Crimson Editor with minor implementation differences.

So yes, this is how it supposed to work.

Thanks,
PN
