On the forum there are multiple questions like: "When will there be a next version? Will ABCDEF feature be implemented?" - and so on. I think we need to clarify the current situation with Crimson Editor, otherwise a lot of people get upset since they don't get answers. Here is the plain truth:

There is currently no active development for this project due to lack of people who meet two mandatory requirements to be qualified as a Crimson Editor Developer Smiley :

  • C/C++ programming skills.
  • Time and desire to work on the project.

This is pretty much it. So anyone willing to work on it is more than welcome to dive into the code and try to make the program better.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,
PN.

Sure,

The code is here. There are instructions on the forum how to compile it. Feel free to play with it, post patches for testing.

Cheers,

I'm a windows C++ developer and I have an interest in a good windows editor that is not visual studio and I have an interest in participating in an open source project.
Can someone recommend a subversion client for windows?
Can someone explain the relationship between Emerald and Crimson?

TortoiseSVN is a good client

Emerald Editor was to be the successor of Crimson but the author of Crimson released the source code which resulted in that being updated and worked on instead of Emerald.

In short forget about emerald editor it's vapourware. Work on Crimson editor.
