Due to recent personal changes, I'm finding that I have neither the time nor the resources to maintain the underpinnings to this project on my server.

The Emerald Editor Community does have a project on SourceForge, and has done for some time.

I propose to migrate the bug tracker, downloads area and SVN tree to SourceForge in their entirety. The forum can be maintained on my server without any need to move.

After a long think about it, I am not envisioning splitting the two editors into two separate SF projects; EE was intended from day 1 to be a fan clone/enhancement to CE in the absence of the source code.

We now have the source code, and as such have made refinements to it, but the need for a ground-up rewrite is still present. Whether it is called Emerald Editor 1.0, or Crimson Editor 4.0 is largely indeterminate; the point is they are intertwined, so as far as I am concerned that it how they should be migrated to SourceForge.

I'll leave this post here for a few days, but after that I will begin the move, barring any further objections.

Unfortunately this will mean that some people will need to sign up for SourceForge if they wish to report bugs, but that's no worse than here. It also means I won't have to maintain the SVN server, which is ultimately the cause of the problem.

I also apologise to the community for causing this rift; I should have done this straight away instead of trying to take so much pride in the project, and host it myself.

As I said, I support it as well. I don't have a problem with keeping EE and CE together even though I suggested otherwise.

They can be split later if it becomes necessary to do so, but right now I'm just getting the whole lot over there.

Regarding the SVN tree, does anyone want me to commit the revisions 1 at a time so the history is maintained, or would it just be easier to commit the entire tree and be done with it?

Downloads are moved.

I'm currently moving the bug tracker. As I move items across, I will remove them from the tracker entirely. Once all are moved I will repoint the bugs link at SF's tracker and I will also set-up redirections to point to SF in case anyone has any other links.

if you can script it, 1 at a time would be better would allow for easier bug tracking.

should be quite an easy shell script tbh.

Can't you use the svn dump tool to put svn somewhere else with all revisions. I think svnadmin.exe can do that.

The last few months have been awful, I just haven't had the time to orchestrate this properly at all.

I moved the downloads a while ago to the SF project, and it's just been a case of trying to find time to do everything else in between trying to eke a living with freelance contracts.

I'm also expectant about the future of this project, I've been using CE for about 6 years now.
I vote for Crimson Editor 4.0, I've downloaded Emerald, but it's kind of not the same, I dislike the problems introduced with fonts, and the user experience is not the same.

Number of downloads from SourceForge is ipressive:
Code:
cedt-241-setup.exe   1.6 MiB   Thu Nov 06 2008 11:00   112,322
cedt-241-portable.zip 1.6 MiB Thu Nov 06 2008 10:59 19,051
cedt-241-portable.tar.bz2 1.4 MiB Thu Nov 06 2008 10:57 3,739
cedt-236-setup.exe 1.6 MiB Thu Nov 06 2008 10:51 1,057
cedt-236-portable.zip 1.6 MiB Thu Nov 06 2008 10:50 374
cedt-236-portable.tar.bz2 1.4 MiB Thu Nov 06 2008 10:49 164

I guess we should update the downloads section since 241 is a little old.

Wow, I had no idea we would be in the 6 digits. I might see what I can do.
