Hi,

Subject tells a lot.

This would be very good idea. So user can select what ever utils or scripting languages he wants to automize editing without worrying internal scripting.
Case is this: User has file(s), line(s) or selection which is passed to temp file (or as stdout) and to ext script, output is directed to replace file(s), line(s) or selection.

Many editors are able to run ext progs and catch output, but not many has done this easy way.

For example in vim I used this a lot, because I hated vim script but love perl.
