POSIX Bracket Expressions in regular expressions...
given regex search expression "[:alpha:]+\s1:"
given text "Joshua 1:3"
highlights "a 1:" in emerald.
some editors have a separate operators for "greedy" and "minimal".
for instance
minimal: * +
greedy: @ #

but this way isn't necessarily the best nor is it the standard.  the standard is
greedy: * +

I will leave the implementation decisions up to you, greedy or minimal+greedy.
