As part of the new build of CE, it now references crimson.emeraldeditor.com.

Now, as I have control of the DNS settings, I can deploy that at relatively short notice. (Currently the subdomain is parked with my DNS provider, however the TTL is only an hour)

What do people want from the Crimson support site?

Already noted:
  • Complete list of keyboard shortcuts
  • Maybe a guide to regular expressions?

I think also that the Crimson support site - for want of a better term - should also direct people to the download system for downloads to later versions when they become available.

What about any other content? I'll start putting something together for this once people let me know what they think should go on it.

It would probably be good to have a short history section explaining how we took over development so new people don't get confused when they see the copyright notice for Mr. Kang.

I think that a wiki might be a good idea, but it should probably be locked to registered users or even just to admins only.
IMO MediaWiki would be the best choice if the Wiki route is taken, I've checked other wiki's out and they just don't compare.

Just my 2 cents, I'm pretty psyched about 3.72 either way  Grin

OMG, like... Wikis are so '01.

Why not just go for a simple site with some easy-to-find info on it? I mean, CE is on its way out and I really can't see the need for a full wiki to support it. I mean, I don't even see the use for having a wiki for EE. There just isn't enough info to justify a wiki for a single program.

I agree on the Wiki front; neither CE nor EE can actually justify having a wiki IMO.

The CE support site is growing, albeit slowly; content is being managed through restricted-access boards on this very forum (exactly like how certain pages for EE's site work).

I haven't written the front page yet for http://crimson.emeraldeditor.com/ however I have compiled a really potted history of CE with as much information as I was able to find on the subject, what I've put isn't exciting but for those curious it can be found at http://crimson.emeraldeditor.com/history/

The formatting needs finishing but as a content-only draft it's a start.

To answer that, a while back in 2006 (May 11, in fact) for some reason I set it up to disallow Google (and indeed any other search engines) from indexing with a robots.txt file.

I can't remember why I did that, but I believe it might have been to prevent being flooded with traffic. Since the server can actually handle that now, I may as well remove the block.

In all honesty the debate was had over a year ago, and a support site is in the works, which will be in line with the final 3.72 build when complete.

Thanks for your suggestions, though, it all helps.

As for the post being in the right place - I'd say a post about the website lives in the section about the site facilities... but maybe that's just me.

In case anyone is wondering, the sudden jump in visitor stats is almost entirely due to robots spidering the forum.

Sorry. What I really meant was CE 3.72 rev 241. Go to download link on the top of the page and grab it from sourceforge.net.

righto ~ it has taken me this long to find it (as well as interpret the instructions posted above)...

above it is suggested that I download Crimson ... why would I do that when I had already downloaded the latest, and when all I wanted was the list of key commands?
it is also suggested that I look into the commands section.  huh?  that was my question:  where is that?

finally today I found it in Crimson's Help menu Help Topics... and there under the Commands list is Hot Key Reference

on my computer it lives here:
file:///C:/Program%20Files/Emerald%20Editor%20Community/Crimson%20Editor%203.72/docs/index.html

thank You for your prompt responses!
